About Me |
Greetings! I am Andrea Broadwater, a devoted therapist with over a decade of experience, guiding souls in Michigan and Washington, where I happily reside. It is a privilege to share sacred space and bear witness to the rich tapestry of stories, transformations, challenges, and liberations that my clients bring. In addition to my work, I am blessed to be the mother of two vibrant and spirited boys, often found meandering through the wonders of nature. My mission is to ensure that each client feels the profound care and respect their narratives deserve. I approach our sessions with my entire human essence, not merely as a trained professional. Therapy should be a haven, a refuge from the relentless judgment and expectations of the outside world. Whether you are navigating the complexities of parenthood, grappling with emotions, food, body image, or past traumas, I am eager to listen to your journey! "Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit." --E.E. Cummings
“When I see people stand fully in their truth, or when I see someone fall down, get back up, and say, ‘Damn. That really hurt, but this is important to me and I’m going in again’—my gut reaction is, ‘What a badass.’”
-Brene Brown
Finding Ease in Life's Challenges
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY. Therapy is about prioritizing your needs, protecting your core values, and cultivating an emotionally safe life by tolerating all the difficult emotions that arise. I strive to help my clients to feel empowered, liberated and safe by learning to soothe through difficult feelings and situations to learn to trust themselves.
Whether you are struggling with an Eating Disorder, Trauma, Anxiety/Depression or Parenting Issues, you deserve to acknowledge the goodness that is at the core of being human and cultivate a meaningful relationship with your emotions, body and needs. It means trusting yourself enough to make choices that foster your resilience, even when others may resist or disagree. In essence, therapy is a space to learn how to have your own back. In our uncertain world, it’s easy to overlook your experience or needs and misinterpret it as indulgence or selfishness. Yet, as you embrace the practice of self-care and introspection, you will find that you can show up more fully for those you love and share your unique gifts with the world in impactful ways. No longer feeling imprisoned to those uncomfortable feelings or emotions. Embracing your emotions, embodiment and needs has been shown to alleviate feelings of depression, stress, and anxiety, while enhancing confidence, productivity, and overall resilience. Imagine feeling connected with a life that incorporates respect and care for you and others every day. Framework: I weave an Anti-racist, Feminist, and HAES model seamlessly into my practice with each client, no matter the focus. It is a disservice to be a mental health provider without recognizing the oppressive systems, such as patriarchy and White Supremacy, that shape and shadow our lives each day. In harmony with Trauma-informed CBT, I also delve into Attachment theory, captivated by its insights into the unmet needs of early development, which illuminate the struggles of adulthood and diminish shame. Central to our collaborative journey will be mindful self-compassion strategies, guiding emotional regulation and fostering resilience. Together, these scientifically supported frameworks, paired with our shared curiosity and commitment, will pave the way to a more joyful existence. |
